Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is one of France’s most famous reds, crafted from a unique combination of diverse grape varieties and distinctive terroir, and characterised by its ancient, sun-drenched soils and pebbled terraces. This is made from grapes grown on terraces of pebbles mixed with sandy red clay, with ageing in concrete tanks for six months. It has an intense bouquet of red fruits and spices, with a touch of liquorice. The wine’s vibrant fruity flavours are complemented by silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Pair with hearty dishes like beef or lamb and rich cheeses. While it’s enjoyable now, it can also continue to age gracefully for another 4-6 years. When an occasion calls for a special bottle of red, consider this an ideal bottle to reach for.
